Langdon School in East Ham hosts public meeting of headteachers

Langdon School hosted headteachers from across London to discuss the benefits of collaboration between mainstream and complementary schools.

The meeting was supported by East Ham MP Stephen Timms. Prominent speakers on education were at the Sussex Road, East Ham, school for the public meeting organised by Newham Partnership of Complementary Education (NPCE).

Mr Timms said: “Complementary schools, dependent on impressive voluntary commitment, are making a very important contribution in my constituency.

“They are socialising young people, and developing pride in their own background, whole also helping them realise the possibilities of education and supporting integration into the wider community.”

Other speakers included NPCE founder Ratha Perumal from CASS School of Education at the University of East London, Luljeta Nuzi, project director of Albainian Shpresa Programme, Elaine Willey, Gary Phillips, head of Lilian Baylis Technology School in Lambeth, deputy head of Whitefield School in Barnet and Craig Brown, assistant headteacher of Chatham Grammar School for Boys.

An affliation of community groups, trachers and researchers, NPCE is supported by the Newham NDP.
