A community group called Gardening Thymes is behind the event which will take place at the bowling green in the park in Central Park Road, East Ham on February 22.

Children and keen adults are invited to watch the planting of seven trees from 12 until 3pm.

The trees have been bought by members of Gardening Thymes from the London Orchard Project, another community group which is keen to foster interest in them.

The afternoon event will be open to everyone and will include activities for children.
