Watch your step, unless you want to fall off the edge of a diving board that would make even Tom Daley’s stomach churn.

Of course, if you did try to dive off it, you wouldn’t get very far as the vertiginous board and landscape below are simply a clever trick of perspective painted onto the pavement.

The anamorphic artwork was created by artist 3D Joe & Max, aka Joe Hill and his team, who unveiled it at Victory Park in East Village, formerly the athlete’s village, today.

Joe, 40, said he “jumped at the chance” to create the painting. “Like everyone else we were glued to our TV during the Olympics so it’s great to be able to channel that passion through our art,” he said.

“It’s amazing how much the area has changed, and we wanted to capture that in our painting at East Village. I hope the east London community and beyond will have a bit of fun diving, quite literally, into our latest piece.”

Joe has kept the name 3D Joe & Max in memory of his former artistic partner Max Lowry who died in 2010,

Team GB gold-medallists Mo Farah, Jessica Ennis-Hill and Sir Bradley Wiggins can be seen in the painting, dressed in their Olympic kit.

The sports venues in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Chobham Manor School, Canary Wharf and even the Millennium Dome can also be seen.
