Government ministers visited a school in Plaistow to launch a national programme on Monday (June 18).
Tollgate Primary School, Barclay Road, hosted a delegation from the Department for International Development to announce Connection Classrooms, a new initiative to allow UK schools to make links overseas.
Andrew Mitchell, International Development Secretary, and Martin Davidson, CEO of British Council, met pupils and teachers then watched a presentation showing examples of their work with a school in Bangladesh before participating in a Q&A.
Police burst through the doors of 13 suspected gang members today in a series of dawn raids to crack down on street violence.
