Double Olympic gold medallist Rebecca Adlington (centre) arrived with Great Britain’s swim team at London City Airport yesterday, a few days ahead of the opening of the London 2012 Games.
To mark the event the BA aircraft, in traditional red, white and blue, was given a water salute from either side of the fuselage from the emergency services at it taxied along the runway onto its stand.
Wearing their British swimming tracksuits the team of medal hopefuls, including Jo Jackson and Keri-Anne Payne, arrived in bright sunshine.
They are spending time in training in Edinburgh with their coaches, physiotherapists and team managers before returning to London for the Games proper in the Aquatic Centre at Stratford’s Olympic Park.
Police burst through the doors of 13 suspected gang members today in a series of dawn raids to crack down on street violence.
