Free information session in Stratford for those with learning difficulties

Residents with learning disabilities and their families are invited to a free information event run by Newham Council on Saturday, July 19.

It is called Transition through life for people with learning disabilities’ and will be held in partnership with the charity Heritage Care and other service providers. It will take place on Saturday between 9.30am and 4.30pm at 29-35 West Ham Lane in Stratford.

All residents with learning disabilities and their families and carers are invited to the session which will focus specifically on young people with learning disabilities moving from children’s services to adult services. Newham Council’s Transition team works with young people alongside their families and carers to ensure they have the best outcomes in their adult life by developing their independence and skills.

Providers of support and care services for people with learning disabilities will be offering advice and information. Workshops on topics such as Children into Adults Services, Person Centred Planning, In Control, Housing and Autism will also be run.

Anyone looking for a career in social care can meet care providers and learn more about learning disability services.
