Grab the popcorn, put your phone on silent and make yourself comfortable as a free festival of film comes to a big screen near you this weekend.
The East End Film Festival will take place at Victory Park in East Village – formerly the Olympic Athlete’s village – on Saturday and Sunday from 12pm both days.
The festival will include food, family activities and of course plenty of films, including a special screening of American comic actor Jon Favreau’s new foodie funny Chef and, in honour of the World Cup, football documentary The Second Game.
Younger film fans can also enjoy a free workshop with Aardman Animations, the company behind Wallace & Gromit, with workshops showing them how to make their own versions of stop-motion favourite Morph.
The festival, hosted by housing company Get Living London, is now in it’s 14th year.
Derek Gorman, chief executive of Get Living London, said: “Bringing the film festival to East Village will enrich the area’s continued cultural engagement started by the 2012 Olympics.
“This will be for our residents, the wider community and film fans from all over.”
East Village is located at the edge of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and is close to Stratford station.
