An online directory showing the diversity of faith-based organisations and places of worship in Newham goes live next Monday (23/7).
Published by Forest Gate-based charity Aston-Mansfield it will provide essential information on over 240 churches, mosques, temples and faith groups, as well as photographs of many places of worship, it is the fifth edition of a directory that was initially produced back in 1992, but the first available completely for free at www.newhamfaiths.org.uk.
Ben Anderson, a volunteer who coordinated work on the website, said:
“The Newham Faiths Directory enables local people and visitors to the borough to search for information on faith groups in their area or by different faiths. We have also added a comprehensive online map linked to the database to help find all the groups and locations included in the Directory”.
Newham Council’s rejection of a planning application for the UK’s biggest mosque is set to be the subject of a public inquiry this year.
