West Ham Park has been awarded the Green Flag for the 16th consecutive year in a scheme that recognises the value of such spaces to communities.

The park in Upton Lane, Forest Gate which is run by the City of London Corporation, was judged as part of the Green Flag Awards by the Keep Britain Tidy campaign.

Martin Rodman, superintendent of parks and gardens for the City of London Corporation, said: “We are absolutely delighted. Its a testament to the entire West Ham Park team who put in the hard graft all throughout the year.”

The award recognises a host of criteria including the cleanliness of the park, its plants, community engagement as well as the quality of maintenance and public events.
