Youngsters at the Beckton hospice headed to North Greenwich for the day to play with specially adapted equipment.

Using wheelchair friendly footballs, a specialist coach from the London FA organised sessions for the children and their parents.

One of those to take part, 11-year-old Shaan Ali, said: “I really enjoyed the day and it was a great experience to play in a full size pitch.”

The trip was one of 20 organised as part of the hospice’s summer scheme of activites, which has also included visits to Brighton and the Natural History Museum.

Shahina Haque, family support services manager at Richard House, added: “Days like these in different environments are opportunities for children, young adults and families to enjoy their time together and create some special memories.”
