Firefighters put out 100ft wall of flames at Canning Town play area

A 100 ft climbing wall caught fire on Friday night, sparking an inferno that could be seen for miles.

The wall at Canning Town Recreational Centre caught fire at around 10pm on Friday and firefighters spent over an hour putting out the flames.

The wooden climbing wall, in Freemasons Road, was completely destroyed.

The cause of the fire is not known. The cause of the fire is being treated as suspicious and London Fire Brigade and the Met are continuing to investigate.
