Firefighters were called to a blaze at a derelict house in Forest Gate this afternoon.

Two people escaped the Romford Road property before 21 firefighters arrived.

Four fire engines from Homerton, Ilford, Leyton and Plaistow stations were called to the scene at 2.09pm and the fire was under control by 3.52pm.

The cause of the fire, which damaged part of the first floor, is being investigated.
