It was a massive gamble when Theresa May called a snap general election and it looks not to have paid off as she now faces calls to quit after the UK woke up to a hung parliament.

Despite the Conservatives being the largest party, they fell short at the ballot box and failed to reach a majority, instead losing seats instead of making the gains desired.

But they are set to lead with a minority government possibly propped up by the Democratic Unionists of Northern Ireland.

The Tories are projected to get 318 seats down by 13, Labour 261 up by 29, the SNP 35 down by 22, Lib Dems have 12 seats up by four.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has led calls for Mrs May to resign - but she said at this time the UK needed stability and her party would make sure it was maintained.

  • If Theresa with 318 seats is being told to quit by Jeremy then by that logic should he not be the one resigning as leader of Labour having mustered only 261 seats???
