A group of sixth form students are working with their German counterparts in an international project to help market a series of products.

The students from Newham Sixth Form College, NewVIc, are collaborating with students from the Berufliche Schule Korbach und Bad Arolsen (BSK) – a German Business School – as part of an international marketing team, to pitch marketing campaigns to a range of German manufacturers.

Their work is part of an initiative called The European Business Project; an international partnership between NewVIc and the BSK, which has been running for about five years.

Teams of students will research the UK market on behalf of four German corporations. They will then devise and develop a marketing strategy for them to launch their products in the UK, and present this strategy to the companies at BSK in Germany, next month.

They will be promoting German halal salami, a sensory soap dispenser, a syringe and a tractor.

Geri Krasniqi, a member of this year’s run of the project and a student who is currently studying BTEC Level 3 Business at the college in Prince Regent Lane, Plaistow, said: “In the future, I hope to work in the stock exchange and this project will allow me to get experience of other markets outside of the UK. I’m really looking forward to presenting our ideas in Germany with my team.”

Polliner Chukwuma, teacher of business, said: “The European business project has been running for several years now, and offers NewVIc students the unique opportunity to not only work with students from Germany, but also to pitch to German corporations. We’ll be supporting them throughout the process and are looking forward to seeing their final presentations.”
