A hospice in Beckton wants to know what your favourite pudding is to help children in need.

Richard House Children’s House, based in Richard House Drive, have uploaded a poll to their Facebook website to find out what London’s children most like to eat for dessert at school.

Whether it’s apple crumble day you most look forward to, the joys of chocolate fudge cake, rice pudding, apple pie, sticky toffee pudding, or jam roly poly, add your vote to the school pudding debate.

The vote-gathering is all to raise awareness of the work that Richard House do to help children with serious or life-limiting illnesses back to school.

One child who could not have made the step without the help of the nurses and carers at the hospice is Joshua Smith who attends Morpeth School in Bethnal Green despite having to undergo two hours of physio and medication every morning to help him deal with his cystic fibrosis.

Joshua, who regularly attends school, has even passed two GCSEs although he is still in Year Nine.

Allison Smith, Joshua’s mum, said: “When Joshua was born, we had major concerns about whether he’d get to school and there are still things he can’t do, such as taking part in sports.

“But we can also look to the future now. We can look at the possibility of college and university.

“We know it’s going to be tough to be parted because we’ve spent so much time together but school is helping us realise we need our own lives.

“I know the social relationships my children will build up now will help them in the future.”

Richard House Children’s hospice needs to raise £2.75 million a year to keep helping young people so make your vote count in the school pudding debate at www.facebook.com/richardhousech.
