Perry Fenwick is worried he’s going to fall over when he carries the Olympic torch during a live ‘EastEnders’ episode.

The actor - who plays hapless Billy Mitchell - will be one of the 8,000 torch bearers as the flame heads to the Olympic Stadium in east London for the opening ceremony on July 27 and he admits it’s going to be very nervous as his leg is being screened live for the BBC One soap on July 23.

He said: “My main concerns are: remembering my lines, don’t fall over and don’t let the torch go out. If I can achieve that on the night and do a little bit of acting on top, then I’ll be thrilled. Hopefully, there’ll be a large gin and tonic waiting for me in my dressing room afterwards.”

Perry, originally from Manor Park, said he has been practising his route so he doesn’t fall over when the scene is filmed.

He told Radio Times magazine: “I come in of a morning and do a few laps of Albert Square. I basically want to find every pothole so the crew can fill them in. I’ve started thinking, ‘God, it’s not far away now.’ And I’ve been having these bizarre actor/athlete dreams where I’ve got no trousers on or I’m tripping up. It’s a weird blurring of fiction and reality.”
