A “key player” on the London drug scene was arrested in Newham last night in an attempt to take down two gangs.
Nearly £70,000 of cash and a large quantity of drugs, including approximately 50 rocks of crack cocaine, were recovered at the residential address as part of Operation Centaur.
Six other people were also arrested in the Met police operation focusing on arresting senior runners for two gangs operating on either side of the Romford Road- the Demus Line, which operates to the south and the Limo Line, which operates to the north.
The operation continued into today with a series of raids at several addresses this afternoon in what DCI Dave Rock described as an “overt message” to the community.
The Newham Recorder was present at raids on a first floor flat in Radlett Close, E7, and a second floor flat in Odessa Road, also in E7.
A man was arrested for possession at the first address while a woman was arrested for supply at the second.
The Territorial Support Group, Newham Crime Squad and the Newham gangs and firearms unit all provided assistance.
