Forest Gate residents had a fun packed Diamond Jubilee celebration featuring martial arts and charity.
People gathered in Forest Lane Park to enjoy face painting, a bouncy castle, music, food and drink with a traditional focus on entertaining the children.
Unusually, a martial arts demonstration was given by newly crowned BIKMA Light-Heavyweight Champion Gzim Nikaj who was a student at the Mantis Kickboxing Club, a community group based in Durning Hall in Forest Gate for 25 years.
Generously, a raffle was also held to raise money for Richard House Children’s Hospice in Beckton, who care for children with life-limiting conditions.
Police burst through the doors of 13 suspected gang members today in a series of dawn raids to crack down on street violence.
