“Regular raves” are being held in a Newham warehouse where a party at the weekend left three people in hospital, according to a man who works in a neighbouring unit.

The man, who didn’t want to be identified, said the vacant unit in Hillcroft Road in London Industrial Park has been taken over by revellers weekly in the last few months, causing nuisance to the entire estate.

Three partygoers were admitted to hospital with life-threatening injuries on Friday night after taking potentially lethal ecstasy tablets at a warehouse party, leading police to issue a warning telling members of the public not to take drugs bought at the rave.

One person still remained in Newham University Hospital this morning.

The neighbouring worker claimed about 200 people attend the gatherings in the 8,579 sq foot unit, many of whom are in their teens, and are often just leaving as he arrives to open his yard at 8am on Saturday mornings.

Empty bottles and cans are strewn all over the estate, along with trolleys and deflated balloons.

A spokesman for one of the unit’s letting agents said the company and the client were in “constant communication” with the police.

“Our client is in the process of making the unit more secure and employing a security guard,” he added, confirming that the unit has been broken into twice in the last month.

Antony, a trainer who works in Hillcroft Road and didn’t want to give his full name, said he was unaware of raves taking place on the estate but had noticed a lot of additional mess.

“There has been a lot of rubbish,” he said. “We cleaned up on Thursday but a lot of rubbish has blown in over the weekend, cups and balloons and other party stuff.”

Anyone with information about the sale of illegal drugs should call police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
