Three teenage girls have been arrested in east London today on suspicion of involvement in terrorism, according to Scotland Yard.
Two 18-year-olds and one aged 19 were arrested by officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command carrying out warrants at three locations.
They are being held in custody at a police station outside of London on “suspicion of the commission, preparation and instigation of terrorist acts” under section 41 of the 2000 Terrorism Act.
This-morning’s arrests were made as part of an ongoing intelligence-led operation in north-west London last week in which a 21-year-old woman wanted for questioning on “suspicion of “preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism” was shot by police at an address in Willesden.
The woman was formally arrested yesterday on release from hospital.
