17:45 25 February 2013

A man has been banned from riding the tube without his wife for five years after he touched women inappropriately on the Central Line.

William Guerrero-Maunay, 39, of Tennyson Road, Stratford, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assualt on a female aged 13 or over.

He was sentenced to six weeks in prison suspended for two years, placed on the sex offenders register for seven years, and issued a sex offenders prevention order for five years banning him from the London Underground unless accompanied by his wife.

Guerrero-Maunay touched a 25-year-old woman at around 6pm on November 5 on an eastbound Central Line train as it travelled from Stratford.

He also assaulted a 39-year-old woman at around 8.35am three days later on a westbound Central Line train travelling between Liverpool Street and Bank/Monument.

Plain clothes officers were patrolling Mile End Tube station at the time and noticed Guerrero-Maunay acting suspiciously so decided to follow him as he travelled on the network before making their arrests.

The British Transport Police urged women to report sexual crimes so they can convict those responsible.
