Police were investigating reports of shots being fired in Butchers Road at around 3.25am on December 30.

Chris Kaba, a 19-year-old from Sydenham, south London, was charged on Sunday with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

He appeared in custody at Thames Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Police continue to appeal for information to identify a second man, shown on CCTV at the scene, who is described as black, wearing black joggers, black trainers and a black coat with a light-coloured fur hood.

Witnesses who were in Butchers Road the day before New Year’s Eve or anyone with information is being asked to call Newham CID on 020 8217 5720, Tweet @MetCC, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 (crimestoppers-uk.org).
