A Newham man accused of plotting to carry out a terror attack has been charged with further terrorism offences.

Umar Ahmed Haque, 25, appeared at the Old Bailey today for a plea and case management hearing.

He had previously been charged with preparation of terrorist acts, conspiracy to possess a firearm and four counts of possessing a record of information that was of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.

The additional charges are one count of preparation of terrorist acts and two counts of dissemination of terrorist publication.

Three other men also appeared at court alongside Haque.

Muhammad Abid, 27, from Newham, is charged with having information about acts of terrorism which he knew or believed might be of material assistance in securing the apprehension, prosecution or conviction of another.

Abuthaher Mamun, 19, from Barking, is charged with the preparation of terrorist acts.

Nadeem Ilyas Patel, 25, from Newham, is not charged under anti-terror legislation but is charged with conspiracy to possess a firearm.

All four have been remanded in custody to appear for trial at the Old Bailey on January 15.
