A 16-year-old is recovering in hospital after he was stabbed multiple times in Forest Gate.

Police were called to a report of a stabbing 11.10am in Shrewsbury Road near to the junction with Halley Road on Friday Nov 30.

The teenager was walking along the street with a friend when two cars stopped nearby.

Around 10 males got out and chased the pair down the road - one of the young men ran away but his friend was caught and stabbed several times.

Some of the group returned to their cars while others ran down Halley Road.

The victim was taken to an east London hospital by ambulance where he underwent surgery and his condition is said to stable.

Detective Constable Douglas Musisi, the officer in the case, said: “This was a particularly savage attack carried out by a group of males on the street in a residential area. Several witnesses have been identified and spoken to but I would appeal to anyone who saw this incident to contact police with any information.”

The suspects are all described as males, wearing dark clothing with their hoods up.

One of the vehicles has been described as a silver Vauxhall Astra or Vectra type vehicle and the other as being a dark coloured car.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Newham CID in the strictest confidence on 0207 275 5881.

Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

No arrests have been made and inquiries continue.
