£100,000 reward after triathlon bikes stolen from vans at hotel

A triathlon company is offering a £100,000 reward for information after two of its vans containing dozens of specialist bikes worth £300,000 were stolen from outside a hotel in Docklands.

Detectives in Newham are investigating the theft from the car park of a Travelodge in Dockside Road, E16 in the early hours of Monday, February 17, following an exhibition at the Excel Centre in east London.

The two white Ford vans contained specialist triathlon equipment owned by Somerset-based Tri UK, worth approximately £300,000.

Items stolen include 52 high-value bikes made by manufacturers Giant, Cervelo, Cannondale, Scott, Neil Pryde and Wilier, bike accessories and men’s and ladies TYR wetsuits.

Detective Sergeant Tony Gambles, from Newham CID, said: “The white Ford vans’ registration numbers were DY12 FJF and DV61 DJE. Both vans had trackers fitted but these were disconnected on the A13 shortly after the theft.

“We understand that the owner of the equipment has offered a reward of up to £100,000 for information resulting in the safe recovery of the property and the successful prosecution of those responsible for the theft.”

Tri Uk have also released images of a number of the makes and models of equipment stolen availabe here.
