Two of three Newham brothers released
Two of three Newham brothers arrested over their alleged involvement in a terror plot have been released.
Scotland Yard have revealed their release as they announced that warrants for the further detention of the third brother and three other people arrested last week have been granted.
The 26-year-old and his two brothers, aged 18 and 24 were arrested last week after police carried out an early morning raid in Abbey Road, Stratford.
Three men were also held in Ealing and one woman was arrested in Hackney.
The extension warrants were granted for one of the men arrested in Newham and two of the three Ealing men and the one woman.
These extension warrants, granted at Westminster Court expire next Thursday July 19.
The arrests were made by officers from the MPS Counter Terrorism Command as part of a pre-planned intelligence-led operation.
They were all arrested under the Terrorism Act 2000 on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.
One of the Newham men arrested served as a PCSO with the MPS between May 2007 and September 2009, when he resigned. He was not deployed in a specialist or sensitive role.
The operation in London is not linked to the Olympic and Paralympic games, said a Scotland Yard spokesman.
