Two men from east London have been charged with terrorism and firearms offences after being stopped at Dover.
Mohommod Hassin Nawaz, 29, and Hamza Nawaz, 22, of Dirleton Road, Stratford, were arrested under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act on Monday.
The pair are jointly charged with attending a terrorist training camp and unlawful possession of rifle ammunition.
Mohommod Hassin Nawaz has also been charged with possessing a laptop which contained ‘documents or records containing information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism’.
The men will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Service said the charges were following an investigation by its Counter Terrorism Command (SO15).
He said between the January 1, 2012 and September 16, 2013 the two men: “Conspired together to both attend a place used for terrorist training knowing or believing that instruction or training would be provided there wholly or partly for purposes connected with the commission or preparation of acts of terrorism.”
The spokesman added a 37-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman arrested in Essex on Wednesday have been released without charge.
