Seven charged with alleged racist incidents at West Ham game

Seven men have been charged with football related racist incidents which allegedly took place at a game at West Ham’s stadium.

Under an investigation code-named Operation Hermes, Newham police identified six men who were sitting in the home section of the Boleyn Ground and one who was sitting in the away section during a game between West Ham and Stoke on November 19.

They have all been charged today with one count each of a racially aggravated public order offence.

Six have been bailed on appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on June 24.

They are Mark Mahoney, 27, of Wickford Drive, Romford; Jack Stratton, 26, of Ongar Road, Brentwood; Sam King, 20, of Petersfield Avenue, Romford; Sam Sneddon, 21, of Farnes Drive, Romford; Scott Templeman, 41, of Tavistock Drive, Billericay, Essex; and Daniel Lunt, 24, of Norton Road, Wirral, Merseyside.

One, Warren Kober, 49, of Maryland Avenue, Canvey Island, Essex, has been bailed to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on July 8.

A 23-year-old man arrested following an incident on November 25 at the Tottenham v West Ham game was released with no further action on February 18.
