A serving Metropolitan Police officer was found dead at North Woolwich police station on Sunday afternoon, it has emerged.
The male Pc, in his 30s, was discovered with gunshot wounds at around 2.30pm. He was pronounced dead by paramedics 20 minutes later.
He worked within the Aviation Security Command at London City Airport, Silvertown.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said the officer’s next of kin has been informed. He is yet to be formally identified.
A report is now being prepared for the coroner by officers from the Directorate of Professional Standards.
