Two men from Newham have been charged with producing cannabis following a major Metropolitan Police crackdown on economic crime this week.

Andrew Downie, 40, of Warwick Road, Stratford, and Paul Alan Davis, also 40, of Kitchener Road, Forest Gate, appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court accused of producing a Class B controlled drug and using electricity without authority, Scotland Yard said.

Downie was remanded in custody to appear before Inner London Crown Court at a date yet to be fixed.

Davis was ordered to re-appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on August 29.

The Met’s Operation Stimtone, which took place on Tuesday, was its largest ever operation focused on economic crime.

It involved more than 1,200 officers. and 327 separate operations were completed across London throughout the day.
