Manor Park cabbie denies driving charge

A black cab driver from Manor Park has denied driving carelessly after he was involved in an accident with a 91-year old woman in central London.

Noel Cameron, 53 was driving his taxi across Waterloo Bridge when pensioner was Renee Peett crossing the road.

They were involved in an accident on October 3 last year.

The retired civil servant, who lived on Petherton Road, Highbury, died in hospital two days later.

The decorated pensioner, had served in the Second World War in the Women’s Royal Naval Service and had been posted in Scotland and survived a blitz bombing in Aldwych that killed 50 in 1944.

She had been spending the day on her own at the South Bank when the accident happened.

Cameron appeared at Inner London Crown Court, and was granted unconditional bail.

His trial, which is expected to last four days will take place on January 14 next year.

Cameron, of Sixth Avenue, denies the single count of causing death by careless driving.
