A female patient was reportedly sexually assaulted at Newham General Hospital, it has emerged.
The woman was allegedly attacked by a visitor while waiting in the A&E department.
Police were called to the hospital after the incident, which took place on July 1.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said a 69-year-old man, of no fixed abode, has been arrested.
He was bailed to return to an east London police station on August 21.
Police burst through the doors of 13 suspected gang members today in a series of dawn raids to crack down on street violence.
