The trial of former England and Chelsea footballer Ray Wilkins, accused of drink driving, has been adjourned.

The 56-year-old, who is now a Sky Sports pundit, was arrested near his home in Cobham, Surrey, in May 2012 when he was allegedly nearly three times over the legal limit.

Wilkins, who notched up 84 caps for England during his playing days, was driving a Jaguar XP when he was pulled over in Friable Lane in the town at 1.50am on May 7.

He is accused of having 102 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

During his career, he played at clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United, AC Milan and Queens Park Rangers, and also managed clubs including Fulham. He was awarded an MBE in 1993 for services to football.

The date of the trial has yet to be fixed.
