The event on Sunday, December 1, chaired by Ameer Mirza Fazal ur Rehman, featured discussions about Islam, the Quran and the work of the Humanity First charity, which helps countries who have suffered from natural disasters.

He said: “The fundamental teaching of Islam is peace and this is the teaching of all other religions.

“If followers of all religions act on their basic and original teaching of their religion, they can create peaceful and harmonized society.”

East Ham Community Lead Cllr Lakmini Shah, was one of the 150 people to attend the meeting at Baitul Ahad mosque, in Upton Park, and she praised the efforts made to bring people of different religions and backgrounds together.
