In decline: Committee members will discuss the rise in empty shops on Friday

Politicians will visit Stratford on Friday to quiz traders on the worrying rise in empty shop units.
The London Assembly’s economy committee will descend on Broadway at 11.30am as part of its inquiry into an increase in collapsed businesses in the capital.
Figures released by the Local Data Company last week show vacancy rates have continued to rise after the recession.
Evidence gathered on the visits will be debated at two public hearings at City Hall.
Newham Council’s rejection of a planning application for the UK’s biggest mosque is set to be the subject of a public inquiry this year.
