Olympic champion Christine Ohuruogu will be taking part in a sports debate at Hackney Picturehouse this evening.
The 400m World Champion & Olympic Gold Medalist Christine Ohuruogu MBE will be taking part in a Question Time style debate at Hackney Picturehouse between 6.30pm and 8.30pm.
She will be joined by Margaret Adeoye, World Champion 2013 for the 4x400m bronze medalist, Paul Canoville, Chelsea Football Club’s first black player, Michelle Pierre-Carr, Commonwealth 4x400m silver medalist; Rodney Hinds,Sports & Features Editor at The Voice newspaper and Kevin Hylton, Professor of Equality and Diversity in Sport,Leisure and Education at Leeds Metropolitan University.
They will discuss issues such as: are black communities reaping the benefits of the efforts of black British athletes last year. They will ask how well represented are black people in sport - at all levels? Is sport making a difference to black people’s health and wellbeing? If not, what is the way forward?
The Newham & Essex Beagles athlete, who won a silver medal in the 400m of the 2012 Olympics and a gold in Beijing in 2008, grew up less than a mile from the Olympic Stadium.
