English Cities Fund are due to submit a planning application to Newham Council for a building up to 13 storeys high, set to house 216 people.

Those interested can view the designs and meet the project team at The Place, Silvertown Way, on Tuesday, December 10.

Phase one of the project was completed in December 2012 while the second stage, currently being built, should be finished by early 2015.

When finally completed the regeneration will include a new market square, shops and cafes, 652 new homes and improved links between Canning Town Station and the market.

Duncan Cumberland, development director at English Cities Fund, was thrilled to be getting the final stage underway.

“The development has already transformed the area, delivering new homes as well as continuing to retain the historic market,” he said.

“As always, we encourage people to come along and meet our team in person and provide any comments they may have.”

The market’s regeneration is a joint venture between landowners the London Borough of Newham and developers English Cities Fund – a government creation designed to tap into private investment.
