Canning Town marathon runner wants to ‘give something back’

A runner who took to the streets in memory of her uncle to is to run two marathons this year.
Lily Idaduah-Phomsouvanh, 21, from Canning Town, will take part in Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life on July 22 and the Run to the Beat half-marathon on October 28 in aid of Community Links.
As somebody who was no regular runner, she admitted it was a daunting prospect.
She said: “I decided to take up running after my uncle Chanh died from cancer last year.
“I also want to give something back to the local community so this was a chance to do both.”
Lily lives in Hermit Road, yards away from Community Links headquarters.
She has had to dedicate herself to a gruelling exercise regime to ensure she is ready for the upcoming challenges.
Lily added: “I know that they help people in our community to build up their lives.
“I used to go out to parties a lot and didn’t really do much exercise but I felt like I needed to make a change.”
