Nine-year-old is fighting for life after road accident

A nine-year-old has been critically injured in a hit and run road accident in Manor Park

Now police are appealing for the driver to “have a conscience” and hand himself in.

Detectives from Chadwell Heath Road Death Investigation are appealing for information after the boy was left fighting for his life after athe “fail to stop collision” in East Ham.

Police were called at 7.52pm last night the accicent in Woodhouse Grove, Manor Park.

A silver Mazda 3 (registration number LV58 SRX) was in collision with the nine-year-old and another lad aged 12. The vehicle failed to stop and was found abandoned nearby.

The nine-year-old was taken by London Ambulance Service to hospital suffering from head injuries. He is currently in a critical condition.

The 12-year-old boy received minor injuries.

Det Insp Mark Cam said “The driver left a nine-year-old boy lying in the road fighting for his life. I would hope that the conscience of the driver leads him to come forward and hand himself into police. I would also urge anyone who knows the driver, or who witnessed the collision to call police immediately.”
