An inspirational Beckton entreprenur won a national diversity award for her work with women.
Sheila Singh, 48, received the Entrepreneurs of Excellence’s National Diversity Award for Gender at a ceremony in Manchester on Friday September 21 for specialism in training women for the workplace.
Originally, Sheila ran the Women’s Business Centre as part of Newham College before founding the London School of Academics, a teacher training business which recently moved from East Ham to Rainham.
Only beginning her formal education at the age of 32, Sheila’s success has been the result of an uphill struggle with ill health as she suffers from angiodema, a condition that causes swelling throughout her body and makes breathing difficult.
Police burst through the doors of 13 suspected gang members today in a series of dawn raids to crack down on street violence.
