A nightclub where a mass brawl involving over 100 revellers erupted, has had its licence revoked by Newham councillors.
They took the decision on Tuesday after hearing that police were called to Juoda Balta in Jenkins Lane, Beckton in July.
The licensing sub-committee sub-committee were told officers found over 100 people fighting at the premises.
Police visited the club after the incident and discovered a number of breaches to the conditions of the premises licence.
The committee also heard a closure notice had been served on the premises less than four months before the brawl. There was only one bouncer on the door and a drugs swipe tested positive.
Further breaches of the premises licence were discovered by council licensing officers and another closure notice was served.
Councillor Ian Corbett, chair of the committee, said: “It beggars belief that the club can have allowed this brawl to have arisen. The club’s track record has been absolutely appalling and the situation has been completely and utterly unacceptable. Let this be a warning to other licensed premises who step out of line.”
