Ambulance ‘cycle responders’ on call at Stratford during the Olympics

Extra medics are on call at Stratford station during the Olympics - with some deployed on bikes during emergencies.
The London Ambulance Service (LAS) will also operate an Olympic deployment centre, where staff will go at the start and end of their shifts.
Demand for the emergency services is expected to rise by five per cent at peak times.
Two hundred additional workers from around the UK will support the London ambulance team.
Jason Killens, from the LAS, said: “Our plans will ensure that there are enough ambulance staff in and around Games venues.
“We have postponed training for the Games period, freeing up clinical staff as well as training officers to be out on the road treating patients.”
