A family of cats found abandoned in the gutter, skeleton-thin and too scared to move, are doing well in care and are ready to be rehomed.

The clan of eight blue and white young felines were found in three separate locations around Manor Park earlier this month.

The rescuer of one trio described them as “just complete skeletons” and said their fur was matted underneath and soaked in urine when he found them, huddled by the kerb and “too afraid to move” in Wentworth Road.

They are now being cared for at the Celia Hammond Animal Trust centre, Canning Town, and are said to be in much better condition.

Celia Hammond said: “They are now gaining weight and have all been bathed and cleaned up.”

“They are still petrified of open space and are clearly all one family as they cling to each other for comfort, so we want to find new homes for them in pairs.”

Each cat has also been neutered and vaccinated.

Celia said she had not received anymore reports of similar-looking cats being found in the area but asked for residents to remain vigilant in case more are out there.

Call the trust on 020 7474 8811 or visit celiahammond.org to ask about rehoming.
