A female martial arts clothing line has been awarded £6,000 by winning a business ideas competition.
Organised by the University of East London’s enterprise team, the E-Factor final saw five entrepreneurs battle it out at Canary Wharf last Thursday.
An elite judging panel featuring representatives from the likes of Adecco Group, HSBC and M&S alongside an invited audience, heard from the candidates, who also received a business start-up support package.
Sophie Newnes, director of WOMMA – a female martial arts clothing line – was delighted to be crowned champion.
She said: “We are completely overwhelmed and so excited.
“To win this prize means we can finally get down to some hard work straight away and start making some money.”
Partners in this year’s competition included Mouchel Consultants, Canary Wharf Group and London City Airport.
