Bowlers strike out for charity
The Sunday Trios ten-pin bowling league, which features many bowlers from Newham, rolled off their 2012-2013 season with their annual individual handicap tournament for charity at the City Pavilion, Romford.
The women’s competition was won by guest bowler Jeanette Mitchell, and the men’s competition was won by Dean Kingston.
With a generous donation from the City Pavilion and league bowlers, the tournament , held every year in memory of Brian Martin, raised over £300 for Hospice Care in Exeter.

Brick Lane Comedy Festival cancelled after opposition from community groups
A comedy festival in east London due to feature acts including Al Murray, Alan Davies and Ed Byrne has been cancelled because of “heavy opposition from local community groups”.
