The spirit of the Diamond Jubilee was alive and well in Pelly Road, Plaistow at a community party to remember.
Everyone around the Jeyes Estate brought a dish to share to add to the ongoing BBQ while DJ Caswell kept music going from the 40s onwards.
Giant garden games and a bouncy castle entertained the children before they entertained the adults in a talent show.
Everyone transformed themselves for the Jubilee either painting their faces, braiding their hair, or trying out a henna tattoo by local artist Sultana Begum.
Organiser Joanne Hira said: “I am a big fan of the Royal Family, especially William and Kate, I love them, but really this was about doing something for the community, to bring everyone together so they know there are people they can rely on.”
Newham Council’s rejection of a planning application for the UK’s biggest mosque is set to be the subject of a public inquiry this year.
