West Ham captain Kevin Nolan was delighted after his side picked up all three points against QPR.
The Hammers triumphed thanks to goals from Matt Jarvis and Ricardo Vaz Te in the first half.
Although Adel Taarabt pulled a goal back for the R’s the east Londoners held on to claim the win as Samba Diakite was sent off for the home side.
“It was absolutely vital,” Nolan told Sky Sports. “I’m absolutely delighted with the win today.
“They made us work hard in the second half. We dug in and could have won it by more in the end.
Nolan paid tribute to his midfield colleagues after the win, believing it to be key to picking up all three points.
“We knew that they had two quality players and would have to get on top of them,” he added. “We won the battle in the first half.
“We knew they were going to make changes.
“When you’re going to concede a goal that’s a 25-yard strike to the top corner you’ve got to accept it. They had a man sent off which helped us.”
