West Ham midfielder Mark Noble felt his side deserved the victory over QPR.
The Hammers triumphed thanks to goals from Matt Jarvis and Ricardo Vaz Te in the first half.
Although Adel Taarabt pulled a goal back for the R’s the east Londoners held on to claim the win as Samba Diakite was sent off for the home side.
“We controlled the game and got an early goal and then another one,” he told Sky Sports.
“They made it a bit of a battle for us.
“When they scored their goal we had to dig in and fight.”
The 25-year-old paid tribute to West Ham’s summer signings who produced a fantastic first half performance to cruise into a 2-0 lead at half-time.
“We’ve signed some top players (Jarvis, Diame). We’ve had a good start. That’s going to be a tough game,” he added.
“We’re looking up but I don’t think we’ll end up higher than seventh. The top 10 will be a fantastic season. With the players we have, we can achieve it.”
