Hammers blogger Kwame Boakye mulls over Saturday’s dismal 0-0 draw against Sunderland

Things are bad at the moment, the performance against Sunderland was shocking, they played the better football and created the better chances, we’re fed up with not scoring, we’re fed up with not winning . . . but we need to stick with Sam.

I can understand how some fans want Sam gone but when the question is posed as to who can come in and do a better job these same fans can’t come up with a decent replacement, and no Roberto Di Matteo doesn’t count as a decent replacement; as before his stint as Chelsea boss, his CV wasn’t too impressive and Chelsea don’t count!

For the love of God Avram Grant, the worst manager in our club’s history, came within a penalty kick of winning the Champions League with them and that had nothing do to with his ability as a manager; it had everything do to with the star-studded squad he inherited.

So those who want Sam out you’ve got to come up with a name with prem experience and could instantly change things…the only man I can think of who fits the bill is ‘arry Redknapp and for various reason’s that is one managerial appointment that simply isn’t possible.

I’m greatly intrigued as to who West Brom are going to appoint after Steve Clarke got the bullet, if they appoint Di Matteo after sacking him a couple of years ago then they’re a joke, if they appoint Martin Jol after he was axed from Fulham then they’re delusional.

The teams around us are all appointing new managers and it simply cannot work for them all, we’re in a desperate situation and yeah maybe if there was an outstanding candidate available I too would be pleading for a change, but they’re simply isn’t one.

I’m pleased the owners are bucking the trend of believing a new manager will automatically solve all our problems, especially when the pool of potential candidates is so poor. Our shot at getting out of the mess lies in the January transfer window, it lies in getting Stewart Downing, Winston Reid and Andy Carroll on the pitch.

I’ve lost a lot faith in Allardyce this season, we all have, but the list of potential replacements is so poor that we must stick with him till the season’s end and re-assess the situation in the summer.
