Tottenham transfer news: Jan Vertonghen’s agent discusses his client’s future
The agent of Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen says that the sacking of Harry Redknapp will not prevent the Belgian from joining Tottenham.
The centre-half has been a long term target of the north London club and it will seem that interest will not recede despite the lack of a manager at Spurs, with Mustapha Nakhil confident a £10million deal will be completed shortly.
“Nothing has changed at all. He is coming to Tottenham for the club and not for the manager,” he told PA Sport.
“Managers come and go. Of course Jan is sorry that Harry Redknapp is no longer there but he is going for the club.
“We have a good relationship with Daniel Levy. He wants the deal to happen and there is a good atmosphere [between us]. I don’t know when it will happen but the deal is close, very close.”
Yaya Sanogo says a meeting with Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was enough to persuade him to snub a move to Lille and join the Gunners instead.
